Mark Johnson, MD

Primary Care Physician

Mark R. Johnson, MD is a board-certified internal medicine physician who has extensive experience managing long term patient care in the geriatric population. After graduating from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1988 and completing an Internal Medicine residency at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Phoenix, he began a primary care practice with the Salt Lake Clinic in 1991 and has remained in the Salt Lake area since then. Dr. Johnson subsequently transitioned to the acute and post-acute space in 2000, working as an attending physician focused in acute inpatient rehabilitation at HealthSouth, as a hospitalist at St. Mark’s Hospital, and subsequently directing and coordinating care in various skilled and long-term nursing facilities. He approaches patient care from the faith perspective that each soul has great intrinsic value and deserves our respect, compassion, and thoughtful care. Dr. Johnson speaks Spanish as a second language. He has gone to great lengths to try to improve medical care by understanding and leveraging supportive technologies. He has an inventive mind with several patents to his name. When time allows, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time hiking in the Uinta mountains or exploring the red rock of Southern Utah with his wife and five children, most of whom are now married with their own children.
